lessons in law

I was blindsided by my LSLAP client in my first ever settlement conference today.

Note to all potential claimants/plaintiffs/defendants/accused persons:

Your lawyer cannot represent you adequately if you are not completely honest with her. In fact, your lawyer will not represent you at all if you are not honest. I can't provide a full assessment of your case unless I know all the facts, and if you withhold facts from me, then I cannot fulfill my duty to you.

Meh. Looking like an idiot in front of a judge sucks.

At least I'm learning this now, instead of when I'm a 3 year call...
