The Interpreter
Survived my first court appearance today, and with a mohawk, no less. Who says you have to sell out in order to be a lawyer?
I managed to get my LSLAP client a conditional discharge, with a speak to sentence that I'd been rehearsing for days.
His mom was so happy that she hugged me outside in the hallway, and then proceeded to hug the Crown Counsel.
I love what I do. I love translating "law-speak" into plain English for my clients and their families, and then translating my clients' stories back into law-speak for the court.
It almost makes me want to follow in this public defender's footsteps.
